- The American Red Cross relies on widgets to get information out to people during disasters. Facebook, Twitter, and other online resources have also been used. This is PR because it is a form of communication between people during disasters. It is also a way of getting information out to the public.
3. “Best Buy + Sex and the City movie”
- Geek Squad is going to theaters in order to save the men who have to see Sex and the City. This is extremely good publicity for the already male-attracting company. This is PR because Geek Squad knew these men were having a hard time and listened to their concerns.
4. “Mars Explorer on Twitter”
- The MarsPhoenix is programed to give updates online. The public can sign up for free messengers with all the discovery details. This is a form of PR because it is a connection between to mars and the public, communication that otherwise would be near impossible.
5. “City of Greenville Parking Bunny”
- Greenville City is having some fun with parking citations. This blog informs the public that if the ‘Parking Bunny’ sees a violation, the citation will be excused with nothing more than a warning. This is PR because it is communication within a community. The City of Greenville is keeping its citizens informed.
6. “Clinton Spelling”
- This blog explains Hilary Clinton’s spelling error during a campaign in Silicon Valley. This is an example of PR because many consider communication between the government and its people the most important form there is. This blog serves to keep the public informed.
7. “GM Fastlane Blog”
- This particular blog is used to update the public on GM cars. Bloggers include the vice president of Chevrolet, the director of design at GM, and the GM vice chairman. This blog is PR because it posts results of research otherwise unavailable to the public.
8.”Jetblue video”
- A video of David Neeleman, the CEO and Founder of Jetblue Airways. He addresses safety issues surrounding previous company mistakes. This is definitely PR because JetBlue is exercising social responsibility by acknowledging its mistakes and attempting to fix them.
9. “Clemson #22″
- President Barker reports that Clemson is the #22 ranked public school in the U.S.A. He continues to talk about his goal of being a top 20 school. This is PR because President Barker is telling the Clemson family excellent news that they are sure to find interesting.
10. “Clemson #22 employee email”
- An email addressing Clemson’s new ranking. It mentions that this is the highest ranking to date and quotes much of President Barker’s speech. This is a good use of PR because it informs those who may have missed President Barker’s speech of the success of Clemson University.
